Venue and Social Event Information

The Main Conference Venues - The Fraunhofer Institut für Integrierte Schaltungen (IIS) and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Südgelände Technische Fakultät

The venue for the first part (mainly tutorials, workshop and demos) of DAFx-14 is the Fraunhofer Institut für Integrierte Schaltungen (IIS). The main building of IIS is located in Erlangen-Tennenlohe.

All activities of the first two days - workshops, tutorials, demos, keynotes and poster presentation sessions, and also lunches and coffee breaks - will take place here. The main presentation room will be the "Grosser Seminarraum" in the back of the Foyer. Also, there are other spaces being used during breakout sessions, including the rooms "Volt" and "Ampere" located upstairs. Lunch is served at the IIS canteen "Casino" located left side of the Foyer. Other than that, there will be guided tours to the Audio Listening Lab and the In-house Digital Cinema of IIS.

The second part of the conference (paper lectures and posters) takes places in the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) Südgelände Technische Fakultät.

All activities of the last three days - oral/poster presentation sessions, keynotes, demos and also lunches and coffee breaks - will take place here. The main presentation room will be the "Hörsaal H11" located in the Felix Klein Building, Cauerstr. 11, 91058 Erlangen. Also, there are other spaces being used during breakout sessions, mainly the Foyers that surround H11. Lunch is served in the University's Mensa of the Südgelände Technische Fakultät.

The Monday Welcome Reception - Fraunhofer IIS Foyer:

The Monday Welcome Reception will take place in the Foyer of Fraunhofer IIS. This is an excellent opportunity to meet collegues, collaborators, friends and like-minded people in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and sync up plans for the DAFx time in Erlangen and beyond. For your convenience there will be a buffet offering complimentary drinks and snacks.

The Tuesday Evening Concert - Fraunhofer IIS Foyer:

The Tuesday evening concert will take place in the Foyer of Fraunhofer IIS. Refreshments and snacks will be served from 7.30pm, with the main programme starting at 8.00pm. The main program includes an assorted collection of electronic music performances by various local artists.

The Wednesday Banquet Venue - Entla's Keller, Am Berg, Erlangen:

The DAFx-14 banquet will be held at the Entla's Keller at the famous "Berg" in Erlangen. The "Berg" is a traditional meeting and drinking location in Erlangen located submontane of a small hill. There will be the opportunity to attend a guided tour that explores the historic maze of caves inside the hill that were inevitably needed for cooling beer in summer before the advent of the electric refrigerator. Do not forget to bring warm clothes along with you for attending that tour. The banquet offers traditionally prepared Frankonian-German food and, of course, local beer.

After the event, delegates are free to make their own way to their hotels, or sample the delights of some of Erlangen's many pubs and clubs! Remember, Erlangen is pretty much a student's city and consequently there are plenty of locations where to go and possibilities what to do.
